David Altmejd
Biography
David Altmejd (b. 1974, Montreal, Canada) lives and works in Los Angeles, United States. Solo exhibitions have been presented at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium (Brussels), Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (Humlebæk), Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, Glenbow Museum (Calgary), and Galerie de l’UQAM (Montreal), including a major survey that travelled from the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris to MUDAM in Luxembourg and the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal (2014–15). His work has been presented in notable group exhibitions at Centre Pompidou-Metz, Kunsthal KAdE (Amersfoort), Château de Versailles, Leeum Museum of Art (Seoul), National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne), the Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles), Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto), among others. He represented Canada at the 57th Venice Biennale and has exhibited in international surveys such as 13th Kaunas Biennial, the Liverpool Biennial, the Whitney Biennial, and the 8th Istanbul Biennial (2003). His works are collected by the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York), Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York), the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa), the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium (Brussels), and the Musée d’art moderne Grand-Duc Jean (Luxembourg), among others.
