Bradley Ertaskiran is delighted to present a screening of Wong Ping\u2019s<\/em> Fables 2 <\/em>in the bunker space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wong Ping\u2019s Fables 2<\/em> is comprised of two back-to-back animations, each of which presents a fictional story with imaginary characters, communicating a moral lesson to the viewer. Jumping between the tales of a wealthy imprisoned cow and a con-joined triplet rabbit, this work touches upon issues of greed, incarceration, digital consumerism, narcissism, and desire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite the vibrant and childlike aesthetic, the films address systemic issues that affect our contemporary daily lives. Ultimately, Wong Ping\u2019s<\/em> Fables 2<\/em> is a cynical and cuttingly wry source of insight into societal behavior. His unique visual language helps to diffuse the lewd and offbeat stories that explore the dark corners of human nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wong Ping was born in Hong Kong, and received his BA from Curtin University, Perth, Australia in 2005. In 2018, he was the recipient of the inaugural Camden Arts Centre Emerging Arts Prize at Frieze London, and in 2019, he was one of the winners of The Ammodo Tiger Short Competition at the 48th International Film Festival Rotterdam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wong Ping will have his first American solo survey exhibition presented at the New Museum, New York, USA. Past solo exhibitions include the Camden Arts Centre, London (2019); Golden Shower<\/em>, Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland (2019); Who\u2019s the Daddy<\/em>, CAPRI, D\u00fcsseldorf, Germany; and Jungle of Desire, <\/em>Things that can happen, Hong Kong. His work has been featured in important group exhibitions such as One Hand Clapping<\/em>, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York (2018); 2018 Triennial: Songs for Sabotage<\/em>, New Museum, New York (2018); XO State Dark: Aristophanes,<\/em> Arts Centre Melbourne (2017); RareKind China,<\/em> Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art, Manchester (2016); Mobile M+: Moving Images<\/em>, M+, Hong Kong (2015); and Essential Matters<\/em>, Borusan Contemporary, Istanbul (2015).
